Today, we’re excited to launch this series with Princess Keisha Omilana, who is a model, mum of 2 and founder of a @acrownofcurls. Here’s her story!

What difference has lockdown life made to how you practice self care? What items have become your lockdown must haves?

Lockdown life has been challenging at times to stay on my self care routines. With two children at home and homeschooling schedules to juggle, it hasn’t been easy. Some days I’m able to take my time with morning mini facial routines and other days I am not. What I try to stick to is my bedtime facial cleansing, quiet time for meditation and prayer along with an occasional walk around the neighbourhood for much needed me time. I take my Vitamins (Iron and Vitamin D) and drink hot water with lemon before eating anything for the day. I cleanse my face and moisturise and make sure I drink more water throughout the day than I do anything else. This sets the tone for a day full of happiness and abundance. When I’m on routine I wake up, go upstairs to my prayer room where I pray, meditate and then work out. I go through my saved notes of positive affirmations and choose one to focus on all day.

I don’t really have a lockdown must-have as I’m just happy to carve out time to enjoy any form of me time with my usual pre lockdown items!

What changes would you like to see and the beauty industry over the next year or so?

I would love to see more realistic videos, images and campaigns from the beauty industry when promoting or selling a product. Less photoshopping and altering of one’s natural beauty could help a lot women with the self love that they seek.

What are your “no compromise” wellbeing must haves/practices- the things that enable you to be your best you?

I don’t play around with my prayer time, meditation time, quiet time, sleeping in on weekends and monthly self care spa time. I don’t always get to do my face masks and exfoliating however I don’t compromise with cleansing and moisturising. I’m always my best self when I’m well rested, prayed up and still looking 21 years old with perfectly glowing skin.

What wellbeing challenges are you working on at the moment?

A dear friend of mine asked me to join her in Deepak Chopra’s powerful 21 Day AbunDANCE Meditation challenge. A commitment for 21 days of 10 minutes of meditation and completion of a daily task all centered around bringing unlimited AbunDANCE into your life. It’s been life changing!

What have you discovered recently that has become a wellbeing or wellness game changer?

FACEGYM , Graces London, daily moments of quiet time and drinking hot water with lemon before meals.

How did you learn about the importance of wellbeing? Via upbringing or via personal experience?

I learned about wellbeing from both personal experience and my bringing. While my Mommy was not very big on beauty and never wore makeup, she was big on living well, taking care of yourself and always remaining positive which of course is a major part of Wellness and Well-being. As a fashion model, I personally developed the skills and needs of eating well, taking care of my mind, body and spirit and incorporating nature whenever and whenever I can. This lifestyle has helped me tremendously especially now living in London.

What does your skin need to be it’s optimal best?

My skin is very picky and at the same time very low maintenance. All I really need is a good facial cleanser and moisturiser. For years, my go to was only Keri Lotion. I’ve upgraded and added a few “fancy French brands” but I still use and LOVE Keri lotion.

If you could only have 5 beauty essentials what would they be?

  • Facial cleanser
  • Moisturiser
  • Lip gloss
  • Under eye cream
  • Perfectly matched foundation/base

Thank you, Keisha x
