Here are a few simple desk essentials to support you whether working from home or heading into the office.
Skincare essentials
A hydrating hand cream
No-one likes the feeling of dry hands and that can certainly be the case when you’re typing the day away. Pop a hand cream on your desk so you can easily reach for it and reapply throughout the day. Enjoy the feel of the texture, the scent. Applying it can also be a moment where you stop, take a moment to breathe and reset before carrying on with your day.
A refreshing face mist
An instant refresh. A face mist is a perfect little tool for reviving your skin and your senses, particularly on warmer days or when the mid-afternoon slump comes knocking.
Lip care
This is something we all need on our desk and in our pockets – particularly with heating/air con… keep this within reach so you can reapply throughout the day and keep your lips feeling comforted.
Focus and Wellbeing aids
Breathwork or calming tech
And breathe! When the workday gets hectic, sometimes just reaching for an app and taking a few minutes to complete a breathing exercise or jot down a few notes can help to regulate your nervous system and come back with a clearer mind.
A grounding object
Something simple like a stone, crystal or a small, weighted item can be quite powerful. Having something tangible can help to anchor you in the present moment, helping to evoke a sense of calm when your mind feels busy.
A rollerball or balm
Scent is one of the quickest ways to shift your state of mind. It’s a powerful tool and we love to keep an aromatherapy rollerball on hand to give us a moment to recentre ourselves, to apply and then just breathe in the scent. Even that can be enough to help reset your mindset.
You might want to keep a few on the go – one for energising, one for calming… so whatever energy you want to attract, you can meet that need.
Something Green
A small plant or fresh flowers can instantly brighten up a space. They’re appealing to the eye and can be quite regulating having a touch of nature nearby… breaking up that feeling of being around screens all day.
For the home office
If you also work from home, here are some items that may not be ‘office’ friendly but are great additions to your desk and home working routine.
Candle
Not always office friendly, candles are perfect at home.
It’s a way to introduce a light scent to your space and shift the energy too. even taking a few minutes to watch the flame can become a quiet meditative pause in your day.
LED face mask
A multi taskers dream. A LED face mask is something you can slip on while working or even when you’re taking a break, supporting your skin barrier at the same time.
Of course, if you’re feeling daring you could also take this to the office but you might get a few looks, just saying…
Your desk doesn’t just have to be about work, it can be a space to support your wellbeing too. these small additions can help make the biggest difference in how your day feels.
