In celebration of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day, our founder Denise Rabor shares a powerful reminder: you don’t have to push harder — you can choose alignment instead.
Hello beautiful! It’s March and it’s very much our month – it’s Women’s History month and International Women’s Day on the 8th…yay! Aren’t we fabulous though?
One of my favourite quotes is this one from the legendary Maya Angelou “you may not control all the events that happened to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them”
There is never a time that this quote doesn’t fit, however this month it just feels particularly appropriate and that’s as we enter the 3rd month of the year, we notice that there is so much that we have to contend with in our daily lives…and that it can feel like pressure.
We are the support givers for both friends and family, we are the nurturers, the listeners, the ones who compromise and give our time and energy to those that we love and care about.
We work hard to keep it all together both at home or in the workplace and sometimes our efforts aren’t even noticed or acknowledged.
The thing is that with all of this giving and doing we often sacrifice our well-being and leave ourselves emotionally, spiritually, physically and even mentally undernourished. We often forget to put boundaries in place around our needs and ultimately our well-being which can leave us feeling fragmented.
So this month and probably for the rest of this year here are some ideas on how you can reclaim the fragments of your life/wellbeing to help you to move from standing still to more flow.
If any of this resonates read on:
Slow down
You are allowed to slow down – in fact it is highly recommended because when you do, you can recognise just how tired you are and how much energy you’ve been exerting….sometimes on things that aren’t even worth your time. Slowing down creates space for clarity…the kind that shows you what your next steps should be whenever you’re ready to take them.
Turn down the volume
Notifications, emails, Calls! time off from all of this is so restorative, it allows your thoughts to get through, for you to receive pings and downloads from the universe and your inner self. Just get quiet and listen.
Get still
Getting still means getting quiet, so that you can really listen: it’s only in that space of solitude and quiet listening that we start to hear the messages of our intuition and the voice of our inner self. It’s in this space that were able to understand what we need to do next.
Step away from urgency
It’s easy to feel a sense of urgency at the moment because it’s March and the year feels as though it’s moving on really fast…because it is. At times like this, it’s really easy to feel a sense of urgency, like you want to push to get things done to achieve your goals and your success metrics, but sometimes you just need to step away from that urgency to be able to get the clarity around what’s next and what actions are going to feel aligned.
It’s about not trying to force things. Urgency is a trickster because it tries to trick you into thinking that pushing harder is going to make things better or that you’re not doing enough to achieve your goals but in actual fact all it does is drain you and frustrate you. So leave urgency out and embrace self trust. You might discover that what you thought you wanted is evolving into something different.
Trust
Trust is an easy word to throw around but it is so vital. Trust yourself more…it’s time to trust the timing of your life! Remember and accept that your timing is specific to you and your destiny.
Refuse to be ‘boxed in’ by society’s labels
Remember that it’s up to you to define yourself… you are the one who defines you, it’s not society’s job or your family’s or your friends…it’s yours. So stop waiting for others to tell you who you are or who you should or could be. Step out of the box.
Here’s to you Beautiful x
