Winter is over, the sun is out and it’s exposing the results of all the comfort eating that we’ve been doing over the last few months! Many of us are stuck with dull or dehydrated skin, that’s not only lacking moisture, but has no glow! Time for action! It’s not just about what you put on your skin, because what you put in your body is what shows on the outside and while there are some amazing products available, they can only do their best work when you have worked on creating a healthy canvas from the inside…..what you put in is what you get out! Luckily its never too late to start boosting your skin through your diet.
Fact: skin needs water! it helps to flush out toxins, to oxygenate the blood and hydrate! Toxins and lack of oxygen cause dull, congested and dehydrated skin! just increasing your water intake to at least 2 litres a day can make a huge difference to the moisture levels of your skin! I guarantee that if you do this for 7 days you’ll notice that [a] your skin feels more moist [b] your skin looks brighter [c] you may find yourself using less foundation. All of this is because water is such a basic but powerful tool in your beauty tool box…remember that our bodies are made up of anything from 50-60% water. Try the 7 day challenge and let us know what happens.
Fact: skin needs nutrients and there are certain foods that have skin boosting properties.
The antioxidants of vitamins A, C AND E are vital maintaining super skin and can be found in fruits like: blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, apples etc….as well as in vegetables like: kale, spinach, broccoli, butternut squash etc…actually the list of vitamin rich foods that are good for the skin is pretty long, but you get the idea. I know that a lot of people find it difficult to take in the recommended 5 a day of fruit and Vegetables; I know that I certainly do because I don’t always feel like eating a piece of fruit or a plate of Vegetables and that’s why I am passionate about SMOOTHIES! They are the perfect way to get your 5 a day or more so, over the next few weeks I’ll be posting some of my favourite smoothie recipes and details of their benefits and of course if any of you have a healthy smoothie recipe, please share it with me and I’ll post it here on the site.
