So beauties… I want to talk about a brand new mask that has got me all excited – the Hydro-Glow Aqua Peel mask from Murad!

This is a two step treatment mask. You start by applying the glycolic acid, which will exfoliate the skin and this is followed up by a moisturising sheet mask. What’s pretty cool about this is that the glycolic acid is on a swab, which is how it’s administered in a treatment session, so you feel like you’re really doing something special when applying it. Whereas the sheet mask is absolutely drenched in product, the swabs have a small amount of the acid on them so it means you can’t overdo this stage of the treatment. What’s the reasoning behind this two stage treatment? The glycolic will gently exfoliate the skin, removing the dead skin cells and making anything used afterwards penetrate more efficiently and effectively. This is followed by a moisturising mask and Murad certainly didn’t skimp on the serum… so I wouldn’t waste any of the excess I brought the serum down onto my neck and worked it into my hands. It felt very comfortable and cooling on the skin and I happily left it on my face for the required time. The mask was still quite drenched when I removed it, showing just how saturated it was.

The Murad Hydro-Glow Aqua Peel Mask  swab

As mentioned before, the swab isn’t too drenched in product so you can’t be tempted to overdo it. It’s quite an experience swiping this over your face and really makes you feel like you’re giving yourself a treatment. The over-sized swab contains a blend of Lactic and Glycolic Acids and botanical extracts to gently exfoliate and smooth the skin, prepping the skin perfectly for the moisturise mask.

In 1989, Dr. Murad revolutionized anti-aging skincare with breakthrough Glycolic Acid technologies. Today, Glycolic Acid is the gold standard for exfoliation and Dr. Murad remains a leading expert on its use to renew skin’s youthful appearance, so this new 2 step mask from him really excited me. Glycolic Acid is an alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), which can be found in various fruits and milk. It is a chemical exfoliant and effectively removes the outermost layer of dead cells from the complexion, revealing brighter, fresher skin. The way it works is that it reacts with the top layer of skin, breaking it down by dissolving sebum and other substances that bind cells together.

This mask gives you the hydration boost your skin needs. As you’ve already exfoliated any dead skin from the face through the glycolic swab, it allows this mask to really penetrate the skin. As you’ve also exfoliated before applying this stage of the treatment, it almost felt a little tingly (but not in a bad way) which I imagine is also where the plumping benefits came into play. This mask leaves your skin feeling a little tacky after it is removed after I massaged the excess serum into the skin and down the neck. It certainly left the skin feeling firmer and plumper. The mask infuses Hyaluronic Acid to replenish the skin, help visibly reduce the appearance of line and wrinkles and to also seal in moisture. It also contains Aloe Extract and Vitamin B3 to soothe and nourish the skin.

The results

My skin felt instantly better upon using this mask set – and the results continued the next day. If anything, my face looked even more plumped and soft the following morning after using it. This is my favourite mask at the moment – it has two elements that I love in a treatment – exfoliation to smooth the skin and a hydrating mask to boost moisture. I feel like it makes me look healthier and I really like to use it before an event as i can trust I’ll have a good skin day after using it. My skin is left feeling softer, glowing and happy!

You get a set of 4 and I’ve already been counting down the days until this mask launches so I can stock up!
