So I want to start by being completely honest about what first drew us first to this new Peptide 24/7 range from Elemis… aren’t these products beautiful?
The packing is so very us… these gorgeous purple and white packaging which is so sleek and sexy… love it. They look so beautiful together, but these products are more than just pretty packages. Like all of Elemis’s products, these are backed with science, with beautiful formulations and powerful results.
So firstly, let’s talk about the ingredients that tie this range together: Peptides.
Elemis have their own formulation of peptides that they use in the products, this is what they have to say about it:
“ELEMIS’ tetra-peptide, inspired by these circadian rhythms, helps to support the skin’s natural processes. The harsh environment, travel, disruptive sleep patterns and modern living can all have an effect on circadian rhythms, causing them to become out of sync.”
What do Peptides do?
They encourage collagen production in the skin, which is the scaffolding for the skin, giving it structure. It works by sending a “message” to your skin that it has lost collagen and needs to generate more
What also gives this range its scent is the extracted seed oil from Night Scented Stock, and Elemis is the first to do this for cosmetic purposes!
“ELEMIS’ tetra-peptide, inspired by these circadian rhythms, helps to support the skin’s natural processes. The harsh environment, travel, disruptive sleep patterns and modern living can all have an effect on circadian rhythms, causing them to become out of sync.”
ELEMIS Peptide⁴ Recovery Eye Cream
This is a very light eye cream and doesn’t feel sticky.
It absorbs very quickly into the skin and gives your skin a little bit of a glow without leaving your under eyes looking wet or shiny. The peptides in this product help to reduce the look of tired eyes to make sure look more rested. Gives the skin a bit of a lift
One of the key ingredients in this is Star Arvensis™ which is naturally high in Omega 3 Fatty Acids to improve the appearance of skin elasticity and replenishes lost moisture.
Peptide⁴ Night Recovery Cream-Oil
This has more of an essence feel to it. It absorbs into the skin very quickly and I feel able to apply further night-time products on top without issue if I want to. It’s a beautiful formula and smells lovely without being too much.
I went on a bit of a journey with this product and let me tell you why.
For me, a nighttime product is something that is a little heavier, a little richer on the skin. I feel like this is great to put on just before bed to wake up with that glowing, lovely skin. I like using oils or overnight masks for this.
So when I picked up this cream in oil product from Elemis I took a beat. It glided on the skin and absorbed beautifully – but as I previously mentioned, it felt more like an essence than an oil or a night cream. I felt like I was missing a step.
I immediately started to use a thicker cream on top afterwards like usual. But then I decided to trust in the genius that is Elemis – that even this light cream would do wonders as an overnight cream. And it really did! My skin did feel lovely and glowy in the morning – I didn’t feel dry or as if I didn’t apply anything the night before. Beautiful.
You can, of course, follow this up with other products but this product stands on its own two feet and does what it says it will do. And for those of you that are put off by heavier products at night and don’t feel like their skin can cope (or just don’t enjoy that feeling) this product could be a match made in heaven.
Peptide⁴ Thousand Flower Mask
Now the first thing I want to say is be warned, beauties…. this is a black mask! The colour comes from the mineral, vitamin, and antioxidant-rich Nordic Peat So get your dark muslin cloths ready! It has a silky, grainy texture and it feels sort-of dry to touch. It also has a faint scent to it, but nothing offputting. Quite nice actually.
It also contains Brazilian Black Clay to purify the skin and Willow Complex which gently exfoliates away dead skin cells.
How to use:
Apply to skin with clean fingers or a mask brush. Leave on for 15 mins or until it has dried.
When you apply this to the skin there’s a slightly tickly sensation, which I imagine is the peptides at work. This actually remained even after I removed it, which to me indicated that it really got to work in the skin.
The result? Skin that feels plumped and smooth. As I’m in my twenties I’m not going to touch on the ‘firming’ element that this mask is meant to achieve, but I will say that my skin did feel tighter (not in the stripped way, in a good way) and it definitely felt like it was doing something. A fabulous face mask!
