Tips for a flawless foundation base!

Tips for a flawless foundation base!

A great foundation can help even out your skin with a natural, healthy finish. Here are some tips on how to achieve a flawless base that’ll look like a second skin. Beautiful!

Prep is Key

Make sure to cleanse, exfoliate and moisturise your skin to ensure a smooth and even finish: makeup will cling to any dry patches of skin. Using a nice hydrating moisturiser will also plump the skin and ensure the skin is glowing, ready for what’s to come!

Use a good primer

Applying a primer can help your foundation to last longer and minimise the appearance of pores and fine lines.

Look for a primer to target certain concerns: for example, if you want to minimise the appearance of fine lines or pores, look for a blurring or pore filling primer. If you want something to control oils, look for one specifically designed for that purpose.

Build it up gradually

You still want your skin to look like skin, so go slow to get a natural but flawless finish. Start slowly with a light layer of foundation and build up coverage in the areas that need it, you don’t need to apply extra product all over, just on the areas that need it. Less is more often enough. There’s also a lot of really lovely serum-like foundations that are like a second skin and work beautifully to just even out the skin tone and bring the skin to life without being too heavy.

Then make sure to blend, blend, blend!

Set your face

Set your foundation with a powder to help it last longer and reduce shine.

Apply powder with a light hand, sweeping over the areas that need to be set, like the under eyes and the t-zone. There’s lot of lovely very finely milled powder that look beautiful on the skin. You might prefer to use a powder if you’re prone to oily / combination skin.
