There are times when I really want my eyelashes to look AMAZING and while  false lashes are a great option, I really like it when I can get that false lash effect just by using the right mascara. These mascaras are some that I’ve been using over the last few months and a couple are old faves and they all live up to their names in one way or another which is good news. As a contact lens wearer none of them irritated my eyes which is even better news.

Here’s the thing: we all have different lashes, rather like our hair, our lashes have different textures, curl and levels of straightness which means that what I love in a mascara you might hate and what a particular mascara does for my lashes, does nothing for yours.

Urban Decay Perversion

This mascara is a volumizing and lengthening mascara. I love it because it is a proper black mascara, not dark grey or almost black but jet black. Some of you will love this mascara because it’s dark and lovely, and does make your lashes look great, but others may not like the fact that it’s a wet mascara and as such can be prone to smudging. This mascara is made to last, so you need to use an eye makeup remover to get it off.

Hourglass Film Noir

This is a volumizing, lengthening and conditioning mascara. I bought it in onyx, which actually looks like a very dark charcoal grey as opposed to jet black, but don’t worry ..when its on your lashes it looks black. The brush is shaped like an hourglass which is designed to allow for the best possible application, so what you get are perfectly coated lashes and you can use it on your lower lashes too. It’s another one that requires an eye makeup remover to take it off.

Lancome Grandiose

With this fabulous offering from Lancome, it’s all about the wand which is curved, a bit like a swans neck. This mascara is really easy to use and gives me great looking, evenly coated lashes in a short time, and there’s no smudging! I’m convinced that this is because the brush is small and doesn’t try to coat all of the lashes at once = less time cleaning annoying smudges. It suits all eye shapes.

Lauder Sumptuous Extreme

This mascara is truly sumptuous and is one that I rely on. It really has a great brush and although it coats a lot of my lashes at once, I hardly get any smudging. It adds volume and makes my lashes look thick, healthy and lustrous. It also contains vitamin complex to nourish lashes.

Sisley Ultra Stretch

First things first – this mascara is expensive. full stop. However it is Sisley which we know is a premier luxury brand. This mascara doesn’t smudge or flake and when you apply it to your lashes, they still feel like lashes.
