imageNail Trends for Spring and Summer 2015

Fashion Week isn’t just about new trends in fashion and style. When a model walks down that runway, her hair, makeup and nails will inspire beauty trends for the upcoming months as well. After Autumn/Winters moody hues, if you like minimalist nail art, pastel tones, metallic and nudes you will be pleased to hear that they are back for spring summer 2015.
The holographic iridescent nail.
Iridescent hues were used to compliment the the likes of Richard Nicolls and Markus Lupfer’s holographic fabrics, metal sheen and fantasy feel textures. I lead the nail team for Markus Lupfer SS15 using a purple holographic nail to compliment the laid back surfer chick look. Pearl polish has been a bit out of touch for a while, but the classic is back – with a twist. At the Shrimps show Maybelline’s nail artist Michelle Humphrey created a pearl on pearl nail, trimming the half moons with petite pearls. So pretty, the metallics and holographic looks were definitely my all time favourite nail looks.
Nude Nail
While nail trends come and go each season, a perfectly manicured nail is always in style. The signature nude nail bed upholds a groomed image that cannot be faulted, as seen at Emilia Wickstead, 1205 and Sibling. A matte nude nail is far more sophisticated. An achievable look, short, rounded shape leaving the nails looking clean and chic.
Pastel Nail
Pastel tones are huge this season and wearing a dreamy, light and bright manicure is one of the best ways to get the look! The classic manicure will be taking on some subtle twists. We will be seeing more crepe and off-white nails as seen at the Azede Jean Pierre show. Murky forest greens, subdued melons and grey-tinged pastel shades also make a statement.

Embellished Nails

Finally, it’s time for even more embellishment! Get out your nail glue and your craft box, it’s time to decorate your nails with diamonds, gems and even piercings as seen at the Ashish show. Maybelline’s Nail Expert Michelle Humphrey gave the models “Cosmic Cluster” nail art using some of the same crystals in the makeup look.

So whilst us Nail Artists are busy starting trends and breaking the mold why don’t you try out the looks at home (including some of the wild nail art). Get ready for pastels, nudes, holographic and plenty of chic metallics!

Until the next time
