Eyeliner is everywhere at the moment, but it’s not always the easiest to apply so here are some tips from our founder, International Makeup Artist Denise Rabor.

Firstly… What should you look for in a liquid eyeliner?

There are lots of choices available when you’re looking for an eyeliner: pen, gel liner pot, gel pencil, liquid liner… it all depends on what you feel comfortable with.

If you’re a beginner or simply want something fast and easy to use, then consider using a felt tip liner.

They usually have a super-fine tip, which makes them perfect for when you want to achieve a precise line and need to build up gradually.  It’s also a good idea to look for a waterproof, smudge-proof one.  They are also good if you want to reach close to the lash line or inner corners of your eyes.

It’s all in the application…

A fine-point tip makes your liner easy to use especially if you’re new to eyeliner, but is equally great for anyone who wants precision and speed.

Don’t work with the point at first, as it’s all about positioning: start by swiping the liner from the inner part of your eye outwards as close to the lash line as possible, so that the entire felt tip is parallel to your lash line.

Another tip is to apply it in stages….one small stroke at a time, working from the inside out to achieve that perfect look.

If you need to correct any mistakes, I like to use a cotton bud but a cotton pad folded in half will also work well too.
