imageSeasonal Nail Care

At this time of the year our hands and nails are showing the  damage caused by the blistering cold Winter weather. Just as our body suffers from flaky patches during the Winter season, our nails are prone to dehydration too. Cracked cuticles, peeling nails, and frayed edges are just some of the symptoms. It’s not too late to turn this around with a regime of nail care products that can fit in your handbag.

Cuticle care: The sensitive skin around the nail bed can begin to peel and split when your hands are in need of moisture. Keep a cuticle oil nearby, (my preferred oil is CND’s Solar oil a strengthening and enriching Vitamin E Almond Oil) you can also use a cream, or balm to keep hangnails at bay.

Hand Cream: Store a hand lotion at your desk, and in every bag to make sure you always have a hydrating solution. Make it a goal to apply hand cream after you wash your hands every time. One of my favourites is Lancome NUTRIX ROYAL Intense Nourishing & Restoring Hand Cream. It is enriched with Vitamin E, intensely nourishing and hydrating, preventing first signs of skin ageing, strengthening the fingernails and cuticles with a gorgeous fresh scent.

Gloves: Gloves may not be a fashion statement this time of year, after all it is spring but covering your hands while doing DIY or gardening  will help protect them against the elements!

At night, why don’t you try wearing a set of Bliss Glamour Gloves. These gloves have a moisturising gel lining with olive and grapeseed oils which hydrate the hands with a self activating gel lining. They are also enriched with olive oil and Vitamin E important ingredients for hydration and softening your palms. Slather your hands with bliss High Intensity hand cream before putting the gloves on to help heal cracks and other rough patches on your hands.

To protect your nails further use a nourishing and strengthening base coat. (Essie’s nails care product are my favourite.) when painting your nails with a colour polish always use a base coat. This will protect and shield the nail plate as well keep your polish on for a longer lasting manicure.

Intense hydration is the name of the game. Nails are made up of flattened dead cells containing keratin, but moisturisers can make them flexible, supple, and less likely to split. So when you use your desired hand cream get in the habit of slathering your nails tr
oo. Massage the cream into the cuticles to help stimulate healthy nail growth, Hand creams containing urea, will helps hold moisture into the skin.

At night, use CND solar oil and once week try using the Bliss Glamour Gloves and High intensity Hand cream for and intensive treatment. You can wear these over night or for 20-30 minutes whilst watching your favourite to show or reading a book.

Until the next time
