I am passionate about oils…face, bath, body …I think that it’s safe to call me an oil addict! In recent months I’ve discovered some new oils that have become fast favourites not just because they’re from good brands but because they are restorative. Each of these oils has been included in this edit because they do more than just nourish and moisturise the skin, they have all been formulated with self care and wellbeing in mind and all include ingredients that either relax and soothe or revive and renew like lavender, Rose, Geranium, Frankincense and Ginger. So, if you are looking for a new addition to your self care regime, one of these therapeutic oils might just be the answer. Enjoy!

The Afro Hair and Skin Awaken Reviving Body Oil

This is a lovely blend from the Afro Hair and Skin Co. Ibi puts a lot of love into her formulations and everything that she makes is designed to boost wellbeing! This Awaken Body Oil is designed as a reviving body treatment and believe me…it’s a boost for mind body and spirit. Amongst other ingredients, this lush oil contains linseed oil, vitamin E and Neroli…it sinks into the skin seamlessly and leaves it feeling nourished and loved.

Inner Senses Awakening Meditative Body Oil

This is another fabulous brand, again created by a female founder passionate about formulating products that boosts wellbeing. Lisa is an Aromatherapist whose products are hand formulated using the finest organic ingredients. This oil is designed to be used when you wish to ‘ground’ yourself and focus your mind..the idea is that before applying it, you rub a few drops in your hands, close your eyes and inhale deeply…then proceed with your mindful moment. This powerful blend contains Rose Otto, Rosewood and Frankincense oils and much more.

Aromatherapy Associates Renewing Rose Body Oil

I’ve used this Renewing Rose Body Oil  from Aromatherapy Associates for many years and it never fails to soothe and smooth! This is one of those products that I always have in my wellbeing toolkit because it works on every level; the rose scent is subtly addictive, the oil is rich and silky and disappears seamlessly into the skin leaving it soft and nourished.

House of Life No13 Intense Body Repair Oil

This is an organic brand that I was only recently introduced to and I can already feel it becoming a keeper! This oil like all of their formulations harnesses the power of plants, namely the antioxidants, vitamins and minerals that they contain to leave your skin looking and feeling supple, smooth and soft. This oil is designed to protect the skin from the effects of aging as well providing a mood boost thanks to the inclusion of oils like Geranium. Lastly, your skin will suck this in…really this lush silky oil just disappears into the skin as if by magic.

Bodhi and Birch Ginger Brew Massage and Body Oil

Fragrance is a major element of the Bodhi and Birch Story and anyone familiar with the brand knows that each range takes the user on a fragrance journey and again wellness is at the heart of everything.

Our lovely intern Lorna has been trying out this oil and these were her thoughts: “It’s a lovely oil, not as moisturising as some other massage oils but then again not everyone likes really oily oils! It does sink in very quickly and the fragrance is very calming and even though I’ve got sensitive skin, I’ve had no reactions to it.”

This contains a blend of Plai, Galangal, Turmeric and Ginger oils. This is quite a thick oil and I prefer using it as a body oil or even as a pure-fume as a lot of people like massage oils to have a little more slip. This would be a great product to use when you’re feeling under the weather and need a little energising and comforting.

Vanderohe Body Serum

This is no ordinary body oil – it is more of a body elixir, a blend of body oil and body serum. This sinks into the skin with such ease-one minute it’s there and then voilà- it’s disappeared and you’re left with silky soft, scented skin. Seriously this formulation leaves my skin feeling moist, nourished and just lush after application. I’d imagined that this oil would smell the same as the face oil but it doesn’t this oil is her own person – definite and independent. The scent is subtle and yet memorable and consist of oils like Neroli, Lavender, Vetiver and Lime and lastly, of course, I love the fact that like its older sibling this works on a mind, body and spirit level.

As the brand says, apart from being a highly effective body oil,  it works as a subtle purefume too “as a perfume, unique to each individual, helping to promote a calm and peaceful positivity and keep feelings of anxiety and stress at bay.”

All of these oils are winners, so I guess it’s up to you to choose depending on what your looking for. Enjoy D xx
