They often say that good things come in small packages  ….well in this instance I’m going to tell you that amazing things come in small boxes labelled Alpha H. I absolutely love it when the contents of a box  delivers on what it promises…so here we go.

First out of the box is the legendary Alpha H Liquid  Gold which is reputed to be a skin game changer, no matter how good your skin is, Liquid Gold can improve it!

How? Liquid Gold is 5% Cosmetic Grade Glycolic Acid combined with silk protein and licorice. Now for many the idea of using glycolic acid sounds scary, but in the right formulation it does wonders for your skin. In the positive ageing world glycolic acid is known for great results as it boosts collagen production, evens out the skintone and thickens the skin.

Here’s some science: glycolic acid is an AHA ( Alpha Hydroxy Acid) which are often derived from fruits.

How to use and what to expect:  This is designed to be used 2/3 evenings per week after cleansing. Depending on your skin type you may feel a slight stinging or tingling sensation, which is normal. ( as with  all products it’s best to do a patch test before using).

To apply just moisten a cotton wool pad with the lotion and apply it to your face, neck and décolletage and allow it to dry; depending on your skins needs you can just use the liquid gold without any moisturiser for a more intensive treatment, if however you have dry skin or need a less intensive treatment you can apply a moisturiser once the lotion has dried on your skin.

The brand say “Liquid Gold is an award-winning revolutionary resurfacing treatment that uses a state of the art, low pH delivery system to effectively diminish wrinkles, pigmentation and sun damage. ….works like an ‘overnight facial’ to brighten and revitalise tired, ageing skin, and radically improve the appearance of the complexion. Clinical studies show that in just 20 minutes, Liquid Gold increases moisture levels in the skin, improves wrinkle depth and reduces skin roughness.”

Here’s why I like it: although I was hesitant about using this for the first time, purely because I didn’t think that I needed something as powerful as Liquid Gold, I’m glad that I did. I have combination skin and I have a couple of areas with less than perfect pores, so I was impressed to find them much smaller after the first couple of uses. The other thing that I noticed is that my skin is brighter which I love…I mean who doesn’t want glowing skin?

In case you’re wondering, yes I will continue to use Liquid Gold for short periods of time, when I’m not using the cream :)

The second gem to come out of the Alpha H box was the Liquid Gold Rejuvenating Cream  which is designed to be used on the evenings that you’re not using the liquid or if you prefer it to the liquid.

This cream although described as rich, is fairly lightweight and silky in texture which makes it a pleasure to use when you have combination skin like mine.

The ingredients are
5% Glycolic Acid, Album Bark, Argan Stem Cells plus Vitamin C which which not only helps to reduce pigmentation but is also antioxidant, which helps to protect the skin from external environmental aggressors. The Argan stem cells are also potent antioxidants, so there is a lot of protection in this magic pot of cream.

Why use the cream as opposed to the liquid? The cream does more than the liquid which is primarily a powerful exfoliant. The cream is a more of an all in one complete product because it while it exfoliates, it also moisturises and is full ingredients that protect and renew the skin.

The brand say that it “Smoothes the skin, restores radiance and luminosity: Raised pH maximises moisturising potential and eases tingling on application: Reduces surface pigment, softening the appearance of sun spots and sun damage, rebuilds the scaffolding of the skin resulting in a plumper and more youthful skin tone”

Here’s why I like it: I like the fact that the cream takes care of exfoliation and moisturising at the same time. The texture is very satisfying and feels like a real treat when I apply it at night to clean skin and it has a lovely fresh scent. The unique thing about the cream is that it comes in a controlled pump action jar, so you can control the amount that you use and it’s protected from oxidation. This has become a regular part of my skincare regime, with the liquid joining the party when I need an extra boost.

Last out of the box is the Absolute Eye Complex which is designed as a Soothing and firming gel that refreshes, rehydrates, reduces puffiness and dark circles.

This eye gel is packed with firming ingredients like vitamin B5 and also contains natural flower acids from Hibiscus petals to smooth and brighten the skin whilst Hyaluronic Acid and Tetrapeptides lift and plump the eye contour.
“With continued use, the need for an under eye concealer is reduced as swelling and dark circles are minimised; Fine lines, wrinkles and crows feet become less visible as the skin is plumped and moisturised”

When I first got this gel out of the box I felt as if it were targeted directly at the suitcases that I carry around under my eyes…I’m one of those people with puffy eyes and bags….if I could wear sunglasses indoors sometimes I’d be happy. This gel feels lovely and cooling upon application and the idea is to apply it before other skincare around the entire eye area. I don’t feel any perceptible tightening when I apply it, just a pleasant cooling however it does leaves my eye area feeling very hydrated! I’ll have to try it a bit longer to be able to comment on whether this can fight my under eye baggage.
