I’m pretty sure that by now you all know how much I like Vitamin C products….serums, masks and creams, you name it I’ll try it (provided it comes from a reputable source….I mean I’m not going to put just anything on my face). Some of my favourites include these Vitamin C Serums, Lixir’s Vitamin C Paste and Kiehl’s Vitamin C Serum.

Why am I so keen I hear you asking, well because vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant and as such is a critical tool in anyone’s positive ageing toolbox.

In a nutshell Vitamin C:

a) Is great at brightening the skin; it revitalises and can increase radiance and luminosity… let’s face it …we can all benefit from more radiance, can’t we?

b) Helps to even out the skin tone, so can be effective for those with blemishes and pigmentation issues.

c) It’s great for improving skin hydration

d) Vitamin C protects the skin from oxidants and other external environmental irritants while also repairing UV damage.

So you can imagine that I was really happy to receive these two products in the post to try out and review. I’ve been using these for about a month now, alternating between the two.

The Buzz

Both of these products contain the ‘Ethyl Ascorbic Acid’ version of vitamin C which is often the preferred version as it is very effective at preventing oxidation, so its effect on the skin potentially lasts longer.

I’d never heard of this brand before, not that I’ve heard of every brand in the world, so it was interesting to find out that Sesderma is a Spanish brand that launched 27 years ago and many of their products have won awards including the C-VIT Liposomal Serum.

The Sesderma C-VIT Liposomal Serum

The brand calls this the ‘shock treatment’ for the skin, probably because the vitamin C is given extra potency by being suspended in lipid bubbles which means that it’s meant to penetrate deeper into the skin. As well as the leading act of Vitamin C there is an impressive supporting cast of Ginkgo Biloba extract and Quercetin which are well known for being effective antioxidants.

This looks like a traditional serum, and like the glowing fluid, it smells like fresh oranges. This serum comes in a brown bottle designed to protect it from sunlight and delivery is via a pipette. It feels lovely and smooth upon application, without any stinging (which you can sometimes experience with Vitamin C products) Now as a regular Vitamin C user, I wanted to be sure that my skin responded naturally to this product so I didn’t  use any Vitamin C products for a couple of weeks before trying this.  You are left with the feeling that your skin has sucked the serum in, leaving no visible trace on the surface, so it’s easy to apply your other products over the top.

The brand say that this serum is great at prevention and treatment of photo ageing of the skin caused by the usual suspects of sun exposure, a stressful lifestyle, poor diet, lack of sleep etc…it’s also effective at collagen synthesis; so,  many of its benefits, as with many Vitamin C products are long term.

“Intensive shock treatment of cutaneous photo-ageing in all skin types, including skins with acne and rosacea. Concentrated active ingredients enhance the benefits of anti-ageing and de-pigmentation treatments. Ideal for complementary treatment of lines and scars.”

How to use

After cleansing, apply C-VIT Liposomal Serum twice daily or as often as required. Can be applied to the eye contour, leaving a gap of 3-5 mm around the eye.

The C-Vit Radiance Glowing Fluid- is a lotion that is really pleasant to use. It comes in a pump action bottle, so it’s easy to use just the right amount. Its texture is gel-like – light and slightly creamy and glides onto the skin with ease, leaving it feeling comfortable and with a lovely glow, which I love.  Like the serum, it contains antioxidants and smells of fresh oranges.

The brand says that its great for the  “Treatment and prevention of tired, dull, sallow and lack of shine on the skin. Provides radiance and vitality to the skin, giving it a radiant and healthy appearance immediately”

How to use

After cleansing, apply C-VIT Radiance Glowing Fluid, preferably twice a day (morning and/or night). Prior application of an intensive shock treatment serum such as C-VIT Liposomal Serum is optional.

Why I like these products:

  • Easy to use
  • No irritation
  • It’s nice to have the choice of two formulas from one brand
  • Smell great [a small point but important all the same]
  • Gives the skin a glow [ Don’t be put off by the term ‘shock treatment’… I think that’s more about the benefits to your skin over a period of use. The more your skin needs, the more you’ll notice]
