At this time of year when our skin is exposed to extremes of temperature…you know cold winds on the one hand and soothing but dehydrating heating on the other, the one thing that can really moisturise, nourish and soothe is a good facial oil. Of course there are a lot of facial oils on the market and they are not all created equal plus it can be tricky to figure out which is the most suitable for specific skin types. As face oil addicts we’re always trying new face oils, so here’s a selection of our current faves ….notice I say selection, because there are many more that I could include here but this selection ticks the boxes for most skin types.
First up is:
Vanderohe No.1 nourishing face serum
You can read our review of this award winning, all encompassing facial oil here but what I will tell you is that this is one of those complex formulations that proves that an oil is not just an oil…ever. This bottle of pure alchemy is not a beauty oil in the classic sense of the word ….it is a mind and spirit elixir that takes care of pretty much every skin need and was formulated by a woman with sensitive skin and so is perfect for all skin types from the most sensitive to combination skins like mine.
Vintners Daughter Active Botanical Serum
This luscious oil has developed cult status and there is good reason: it has been formulated with 22 active and wild crafted botanicals and is designed for all skin types, healing phyto nutrients, strengthening phytoceramides, firming amino acids and brightening vitamins and it deeply moisturises, nourishes, plumps and makes your skin glow. It is great for stimulating cellular turnover, reducing inflammation, so if you can afford it this is a one stop Beauty solution.
Dermalogica Phyto replenish oil
This Dermalogica face oil is super light but super hydrating, it’s a real pleasure to use and leaves your skin gorgeously glowing and moisturised. It does this thanks to being packed with replenishing protective lipids that are depleted by aging and environmental stress. First, phytoactives from Camellia and Tamanu oils help restore the skin’s natural barrier. Then, an essential lipid blend that includes Orchid Flower and Chia Seed Oil smoothes visible lines and locks in critical moisture. Finally, Sunflower, Rice Bran and Rosemary Extracts create a luminous antioxidant shield against free radical damage. Ideal for daily use on normal to dry skin.
Urban Veda Sandalwood Soothing Facial Oil
This oil from popular Ayurvedic brand Urban Veda was launched recently and has proven to be a saviour for sensitive skins. With its skin soothing ingredients of calming sandalwood, healing avocado, balancing Ayurvedic shatavari and anti-ageing omega-rich organic sea buckthorn to hydrate and nourish sensitive skin. Daughter Of The Soil Pure Marula Oil
Marula oil has a long history of being a deeply nourishing and effective skincare oil, but as with everything you get what you pay for. With the increase in popularity of natural ingredients we are spoilt for choice when it comes to products and are able to pick them up in our local chemist as well as online retailers. But the great thing is that every so often a brand comes along with a high quality product and that’s the case with this brands luscious Marula oil for sourced from West Africa and wild harvested. Marula oil is great for moisture, deep nourishment and protecting the skin from external aggressors. It’s rich in essential fatty acids Omega 9 – oleic and Omega 6 – linoleic that deeply hydrate and improve skin elasticity.
Rodial Stem cell SuperFood Facial Oil
This oil is another fab super light face oil packed with skin nourishing goodies like vitamins A, B5, C and E, omega 3, 6, and 9 and PhytoCellTech™ Alp Rose stem cell technology works to hydrate, nourish and renew the skin. The addition of rosehip seed oil helps firm the skin and increase its elasticity, while olive ingredients gently moisturise. This easy to use oil sinks into the skin leaving a lovely satin finish.
Black Chicken Love Your Face Serum
First of all- love the name of the brand, very catchy! Secondly, the serum itself contains a blend of some of my favorite oils like Jojoba, Rosehip, Argan, Sandalwood and Vitamin E. It is designed to plump and hydrate skin so that you would have every reason to “Love Your Face” it feels wonderful on the skin and smells divine.
