I was recently invited to attend the salon launch of the new fabulous Colour Depositing masks from MOROCCANOIL® and was excited to get to try them out!

What really dress me to this launch was that it’s basically a mask with colour – so not only do you get a gorgeous colour, but you’re also treating your hair at the same time. And it’s infused with argon oil, which for someone with curly hair is amazing.

I have tried the colour ‘Hibiscus’ out on my hair, which is a beautiful bold pink…. Here are my thoughts.

The colour

I’ve coloured my hair in the past. I have naturally dark brown hair but I do have blonde highlights, which is something I wanted to play with in this session. I chose the shade Hibiscus as I do like pink.

I’ve tried pink before (a different brand) and for whatever reason, it just didn’t work. It just faded incredibly fast and within basically a wash it was out of my hair.

But I’ve tried reds and purples before and they’ve always taken really well. So I had high hopes for this working and the colour has taken very well. It’s rich and bright and really elevated the highlights which were starting to disappear into the rest of my hair.

Key ingredients

  • ArganIDTM: positively charged micro-particles are attracted to the negatively charged hair fiber, infusing argan oil into the cortex while simultaneously helping to repair and seal the hair.
  • Amino Acid Blend: offers colour protection and repair benefits to strengthen the hair structure, improving colour retention and shine while detangling.
  • Apricot Kernel Oil: a high concentration of oleic acid, linoleic acid and Vitamin E helps to soften and improve hydration of the hair and scalp.
  • Hydrolyzed Soy Protein: a conditioning agent derived from soy that moisturises and protects hair.
  • Panthenol: a form of Vitamin B5 that hydrates and imparts a glossy finish.
  • Polyquaternium-70: a conditioning ingredient that helps create healthy looking hair, while providing frizz control, shine retention, detangling and conditioning benefits.

First impression

My first impression was WOW!

My hair immediately felt super soft and nice, but the colour came out very well, which I was a little surprised about as it was only in my hair for less than 10 minutes. I’ve had to leave colours on a little longer than normal to try and make it take, so this was a nice surprise.

It’s also given a nice tone to the rest of my hair, making it slightly darker overall. It’s also made my hair noticeably more glossy and soft, which is a huge plus and something you don’t usually get from a hair dye.

The next morning

My pillow remained untouched from dye – which is a win! Usually, when you dye your hair you have to either keep the pillowcases dark to avoid seeing marks, or investing in new ones entirely!

To style my hair, I dampen it and even when I dampened it – it didn’t leave my hands slightly pink so the colour wasn’t transferring! I appreciate that as I’ve had colours in the past end up all over my clothes because of transfer days afterwards… not pretty.

After the first wash

I try not to wash my hair too often, so didn’t wash it until quite a few days later. It did fade when washed – as expected – but I still had a nice colour to it.

After a few more washes

It didn’t take too many washes for it to really fade – which I don’t mind as it is a temporary colour. It’s easy enough to reapply that I’m not too worried about that and don’t mind reapplying – and it’s great if you want to try a colour for a few weeks and then return to normal. I also really appreciated that it didn’t transfer onto any of my clothing or pillowcases – the only time it really washed off was in the shower.

Will I be brave enough to try the aquamarine shade in the future once this one washes out? I’m
