Finding products work for my curly hair is an ongoing passion of mine. I like to experiment with colours in my hair – so I’m often adding blonde highlights to my usually brown hair and therefore causing damage to already delicate curly hair. So a lot of the work I do with products is aimed at repairing and protecting my curls. As mentioned in Wow Beauty’s August favourites, this leave-in conditioner by Cantu has been ticking all the boxes recently!

What’s in it?

It contains pure shea butter and other natural oils to stop and mend breakage, repair split ends, this makes it more manageable and also adds shine to the hair, leaving it feeling absolutely lovely.

Shea butter is one of the key ingredients you’ll find in taming products for curly hair. It’s one of those holy grail things, a supercharged natural ingredient filled with beneficial fatty acids such as stereic, oleic and linoleic acids, as well as vitamins, minerals and catechin to really moisturise and smooth frizzy hair. It also smells soooo good.

What’s it like?

When you scoop some out of the pot, it’s like a thick cream. However, it actually feels relatively light when you apply it to the hair so it can be used as a leave-in product, as opposed to a hair mask. It doesn’t weigh the hair down at all and I sometimes apply more than strictly necessary so it almost doubles as a mask, but even then it doesn’t make my hair look like it’s been overloaded with product. You can concentrate this on areas that look particularly dry and then brush it through – and this is a leave-on product so you don’t need to wash it off.

The result? Smoother, softer hair that feels and looks great! I love how the brand uses natural ingredients in their products.

I would say that although this is most suitable for curly hair, it would be suitable for anyone who needs that boost of hydration. But those with thinner hair might want to try something else as they may find it a little heavy. It works for both mine and my mother’s hair (see the picture below) and it works for both of our hair types.
